While Fredericksburg is the center of the booming Texas wine industry, the Highland Lakes has its share of stunning and unique vineyards and wineries. The fields of vines, surrounding hills and beautiful tasting rooms will make you forget you’re just an hour from Austin. These are a few of the larger local wineries:
Fall Creek Vineyards at Tow – 1820 County Road 222, Tow, TX
This vineyard helped jumpstart the rebirth of Texas winemaking in the mid 1970s when the first grapes were planted in 1975 at the Tow location by Ed and Susan Auler. Fall Creek Vineyards is named after the gorgeous, spring fed Fall Creek which flows near the winery and empties into the Colorado River in a 90 foot waterfall on upper Lake Buchanan. Many events scheduled throughout the year. (325) 379-5361
