Springtime is the most exciting time to visit the beautiful small town of Llano! Plan your visit – there are lots of activities and events scheduled.

In March, the annual  L.E.A.F (Llano Earth Art Festival) event is very popular for good reason. Held on the banks of the Llano River, it’s the World Rock Stacking and Skipping Championships. Watch world renowned artists defy gravity while stacking rocks in unique and beautiful sculptures. For kids, there’s a lot to do with workshops and activities, and they love trying their hand at stacking rocks. Music, interesting vendors, and the gorgeous setting attract many visitors every year. It’s lots of fun and we make sure to bring our family every year. LEAF is held Friday, March 11 – Sunday March 13. Check out their website for more info  www.llanoearthartfest.org

The first weekend in April, there are 2 major events. The 46th annual Fiddle Fest starts Friday April 1 and ends on Sunday, April 3. Fiddle Fest brings fiddlers from all parts of the country and is always well attended. The Llano River Chuck Wagon Cookoff is held on the same weekend, April 1 & 2, on the banks of the Llano River in Badu Park. Cooks using authentic cooking methods and dressed in traditional clothing from the old west era compete for honors in a number of categories. They cook a meal for the public on Saturday; be sure purchase tickets in advance as they sell out every year. More information is on the website www.llanochuckwagoncookoff.com

A popular event for bicyclists, the Castell Grind, is Saturday April 9 at 9 am. Castell Grind is a 50-100k race that starts at the Castell Store. All races will begin in Castell following remote gravel roads through the rolling Texas Hill Country in the middle of nowhere.  More info at www.castellgrind.com

Llano Crawfish Open is Friday April 22-Saturday April 23, at Robinson City Park on the banks of the Llano River. It features a golf tournament, crawfish & Bar-B-Que, Team Roping, Arts & Crafts, and live music. Proceeds from this event help local charities and it’s always a popular event. Check out the Crawfish website for more information: www.llanocrawfishopen.com

Llano Pro Rodeo starts with a Parade in town on Friday, June 3, and the rodeo is both Friday and Saturday night at the Kuykendall Event Center.  A dance each evening is held after the rodeo. For some good small town fun, come see it!

Llano is beautiful small town, with a historic courthouse square and interesting shops. There’s lots to do, and a guaranteed good time during any of these events. Bring your family and have some fun, we are looking forward to seeing you there!
